Molly Hauxwell Currier is a Northern Michigan-based wedding, portrait, engagement and event photographer, specializing in candid photos and posed photos with lots of life.

I’m Molly

After years of working for newspapers as a photojournalist, I’m happy to be in Northern Michigan with my family taking pictures of weddings, seniors, families, and whatever comes along. (I’ve had the good fortune of photographing the World’s Fastest Cow.) I have been so lucky in my career and legitimately love photographing weddings. It’s the best day of people’s lives, there’s cake, and my superpower is dancing to the Cha Cha Slide while shooting photos.

I have been working with Molly for four years as her second photographer tagging along to weddings, family portraits, and senior photos. Photographing landscapes, details, and portrait shots—may it be seniors, families, pets, or babies— are a favorite of mine, and I’m all for it!

Wedding Philosophy

My style is to shoot candid all day and pose beautiful portraits perfect for framing. When I got married, I was looking for a photographer who was going to shoot from the beginning to the end for the wedding photo book and take some pretty pics of us to frame AND doesn’t cost too much money. It was a lot harder to find than I thought. I am shooting the way I would want. I want to be able to look through my photos of the day and relive the moments. I also want some modern, pretty posed pics. Easy enough!

No 4-hour packages, no having to buy prints from someone, no additional charges for online galleries. Everything is included.

My time at the photo school lead to a job at the Antelope Valley Press and then the Department of Defense company Lockheed Martin.

I have worked for The Colorado Springs Gazette, The Antelope Valley Press, the Petoskey News-Review, and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. My photos have appeared in the LA Times, The Seattle Times, USA Today, The Detroit News, and on MSNBC.com.

Photojournalism background

My years of work in photojournalism have set me up to take candid photos for weddings and events. I started working as a newspaper photographer right after college and started making my way west across the country.

After an internship in Hays, KS, I got a full-time job working for the Colorado Springs Gazette’s The Slice weekly newspapers. From there I went back to school and was lucky enough to live in beautiful Santa Barbara while attending Brooks Institute of Photography.

“To say that we are blown away by these pictures would be an understatement! We are in awe of how great these look and actually brought us to tears (mostly Matt lol). We LOVE them!” -Courtney Grassley
